SOL RALLY BARBADOS 2016 AT A GLANCE

New for 2016
• the finish of Sol Rally Barbados returns to the Vaucluse Raceway in St Thomas for the first time since 2007, with a SuperSpecial on the RallySprint track. Cars will run head-to-head and, although times will not be included in the results for Sol RB16, crews must take the start to be classified as overall finishers . . .
• with 2016 comes a new three-year cycle of Vehicle Regulations for the BRC Championship, although not all the changes implemented are carried through to Sol RB16. While WRC-2 and Modified 5 are no longer included for local competition, for instance, they have been retained to accommodate overseas competitors . . .
• although not entirely ‘new’, Sol RB16 will also include a stage run in two directions for the first time since 2012. On Saturday, Automotive Art Canefield will run northbound three times – the 5.5-kilometre stage will left turn at the Dukes Crossroads, run down under the bridge, then briefly head north before running through Fortress Hill and back on towards Canefield. For the two later stages, the second of which is expected to run in darkness for all cars, the shortened (4.8km) stage will head straight down the hill . . .
