BCIC RALLY BARBADOS 2025 At a Glance

New for 2025:

• two-time European Rally Champion Simon Jean-Joseph returns to Barbados for the first time since 2016 driving a Porsche 991 GT3 Cup in SuperModified 2; his co-driver will be Patrick Pivato, with whom he won the Amateur title in the 1997 French Rally Championship. Backed by his usual partners, the entry is sponsored by Valvoline, marketed in the island by Automotive Art, one of the Barbados Rally Club’s longest-standing partners. For BCIC RB25, the Caribbean’s largest auto-care retailer will sponsor the Automotive Art Hangman’s Hill stage, which will run three times on Sunday . . .
• the SAS Results Platform will run for the first time on BCIC RB25. The SAS Results system - currently in use by the World and European Rally Championships - works in conjunction with the data from RallySafe. The system produces live stage results and final classifications. These will be available on a dedicated page on on the Rally Barbados web site https://rallybarbados.net/
• First Citizens King of the Hill (KotH), the sprint event used since 2008 to seed the running order for Rally Barbados, returns to its most frequent location in St Thomas for the ninth time since 2011, thanks to the resurfacing of Hangman’s Hill by the Ministry of Transport & Works last November, although the stage layout has again been tweaked. For its 17th edition, KotH will run on a four-kilometre stage from Content (roughly the same stage start as 2022) through the Vaucluse Raceway, round the famous ‘Vaucluse 90’ and down to near the bottom of Hangman’s Hill . . .
• Inchcape Barbados, Megapower and Platinum Motors, three leading names in the island’s automotive sector, are event partners for the first time. Under its Riddara electric vehicle brand, Megapower will sponsor the two floodlit stages at Bushy Park Barbados on Friday evening, also Saturday’s Padmore stage. For the first time in Rally Barbados, the 7.5-kilometre Padmore to Golden Grove stage will pass through the St Philip facility, in a similar way to the Motoring Club Barbados Inc’s Rally of the Sun & Stars last year. Inchcape will sponsor the popular 8.1-km Kendal stage in St John, the event’s longest, and also provide safety vehicles for the official convoy that runs directly ahead of Car 0. The island’s authorised Honda dealer, Platinum Motors will supply two vehicles for a Stage Setup Safety Team, a new-for-2025 initiative to further enhance stage and spectator safety . . .
• other newcomers to the Barbados Rally Club’s list of partners in its premier event are Bajan Pure, Barrel House Distributors, Milwaukee Tools and Rude Boy . . .
• now in its fifth year at Bushy Park Barbados and the second with the revised Auto & Rally Show title, this huge celebration of motorsport is set to be the biggest yet. While the display of more than 120 cars competing in BCIC RB25 laid out on ‘The Hill’ will be the focal point as usual, the exhibition again expands to the east past the Clubhouse. Car dealers will exhibit product, offering patrons the chance to briefly road test them on the circuit. More details will be revealed shortly. The Auto & Rally Show will run from 2.00pm to 6.00pm on Saturday, May 25 . . .

The Barbados Rally Club

The Barbados Rally Club will celebrate its 70th Anniversary in 2027, having been founded following the successful running of the first June Rally in 1957; now called the June Safari, it boasts the longest continuous history of any motor sport event in the region, interrupted for just one year by the coronavirus pandemic. Always at the forefront of the sport’s development in Barbados and the wider Caribbean, the Club was among the first to encourage regional, then international, competition and has, unique to the island, organised circuit racing and stage rallying. BCIC RB25 marks the 35th running of the Club’s blue riband event which, from small beginnings as the All-Stage Rally in 1990, has developed into the Caribbean’s biggest annual motor sport International and a major contributor to the island’s sports-tourism product.
